Ealing

Ealing, once a rural village is today a cosmopolitan area full of history.

Ealing Studios is one of the world’s oldest studios still in production and has made some of the most famous British comedies.

Ealing has many terraced, detached and semi-detached houses set in lovely leafy streets.

Ealing has great shopping around Ealing Broadway’ and plenty of bars, pubs and restaurants.

Pitzhanger Manor House’ in beautiful Walpole Park is a Grade I listed building which houses a museum and art gallery and is a great place to visit.

Acton

Acton meaning Oak Town ‘ is a residential area in the London Borough of Ealing. Poets Corner’ in Acton is a very sought after area to live.

Acton has a good selection of shops and pubs.

The London Transport Museum Depot’ is in Acton . The Depot houses vehicles, signs, photographs and uniforms and offers monthly guided tours and themed opened weekends for the general public.

Gunnersbury Park Museum ‘ in Acton is a great place to visit to find out about the history of Ealing Borough. The museum is in a 19 th century mansion which was once the home of the well-known Rothschild’ family.

The Elms’, built in approximately 1735 is one of Acton ‘s oldest buildings. Once a family home it is today the home of Twyford Church of England High School’.

Acton hosts an annual carnival in July which brings together all the different cultures in the area. This is a fantastic family event with a spectacular parade, a fun fair, arts activities and much more.

Greenford

Greenford is a multicultural area in the London Borough of Ealing.

Greenford is home to the London Motorcycle Museum ‘ which displays a unique collection of British Motorcycles including a 1902 Ormonde’. Some of the museums bikes have starred on TV in programmes such as Dads Army, Eastenders and George & Mildred.

Horsenden Hill is a beautiful area in Greenford with fields and woodlands and has stunning views of the surrounding area being the highest point in North West London. It is a great place to go walking and to enjoy the great outdoors’ and is a popular place with kite flyers.

Hanwell

Hanwell, once a farming village in the Borough of Ealing has some lovely green areas’ and a very rural feel in places.

Brent Lodge Park’, bordered by the River Brent on the west and south is a fantastic place for all to enjoy and is home to the Brent Lodge Animal Centre’, known locally as the Bunny Park’ and has sheep, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, waterfowl, exotic birds, monkeys, reptiles, snakes and spiders.

The Wharncliffe Viaduct’ is a well-known landmark of Hanwell and was built to carry the railway over the Brent Valley .

The Cuckoo School ‘ for poor children opened here in 1856 and the famous Charlie Chaplin’ was once a pupil.

Northolt

Leafy Northolt was once famed for its pony racing’ which began here in 1929. In World War Two the racecourse was used as an army depot and prisoner of war camp and was demolished after the war.

Northolt has a lovely village green where the Coronation Clock’ has stood since 1937. The clock was put here to commemorate the coronation of King George VI.

Northolt has a good choice of local shops and pubs.

Perivale

Perivale is a suburb in the London Borough of Ealing which until the twentieth century had a population of less than 100.

Perivale is home to the amazing art deco Hoover Building ‘ which was completed in 1933 by architects Wallis, Gilbert & Partners’ and is today a Tesco Superstore.

Southall

Southall is a residential area and home to a large Asian community.

Southall has many beautiful churches, temples and mosques and the biggest Sikh temple in Europe , the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha’ is here.

Southall Market’ which started in 1698 as a cattle market is today a bustling place on a Saturday and sells everything from fruit and veg to Asian clothing.
